As we approach Easter 2026 we continue to receive regular referrals from schools and family support  workers in Rhyl and around Denbighshire.

Since our launch at the end of April 2025 we have received 15 referrals for beds and bedding.                       The majority have come from Family Support Workers but also from teaching staff.

In total we have supplied families with 14 single beds and 6 bunk beds with all the necessary bedding so that 26 children now have a comfortable and warm place to sleep.

Each family story is unique but domestic abuse, mental health issues and families living in difficult home circumstances are common themes with real financial challenges. Children sleeping on mattresses, sharing beds with siblings or in some cases having no bed have all been reported to us.

We are looking to become a CIO and have applied to the Charity Commission for registration in 2026. This should enable us to access different funding streams as we look to potentially expand our work  in North Wales and Chester.

We fund all the beds and bedding so if you can help us please look at our Donate page to find out how to do so. We recently received a generous donation from a group of friends who rather than send Christmas cards gave us a donation from the money saved and a gentleman celebrating his 70th birthday made a significant contribution to our work. A huge thank you to these donors.

Please note we do not upcycle / recycle beds and all our bedding is purchased new however we would accept any NEW bedding donations ie duvets, duvet covers, pillows, pillow cases and bed sheets at the Sussex Street Christian Centre, Sussex Street, Rhyl LL18 1SE

FEEDBACK

Received from a Family Support Worker in Denbighshire, February 2026.

“The impact of receiving the beds from the Lishon project for the families has been  fantastic. Both families said how this has helped them so much as financially as  they could never of been able to fund it themselves. Its made the bedtime routine so much easier as all children are happy and settled with their new beds, they are now all sleeping much better which has had a positive impact on their behaviour in the mornings.”
